November 3, 2026 Municipal Election Notice
The City of Walnut City Council is comprised of five Councilmembers elected at-large for four-year terms. The next General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for the election of two (2) City Councilmembers.
Eligibility for City Council Candidacy
To be eligible to run for City Council, candidates must be legal residents over the age of 18 residing within the City of Walnut’s incorporated boundaries and be a registered voter in the city at the time nomination papers are issued.
Nomination Period
Interested residents who wish to run for office must make an appointment with the City Clerk to receive and submit campaign documents during the Nomination Period beginning Monday, July 13 and ending at noon on Friday, August 7, 2026. The Nomination Period will be extended to 5:00 p.m. on August 12, 2026, if an incumbent does not file nomination papers by noon August 7th deadline. City Clerk office hours are Monday – Thursday from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Friday, August 7 from 7 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (or extended to August 12th if an incumbent does not file papers)
