Trails

There are 30.5 miles of equestrian/hiking trails winding through Walnut’s rolling hills. The scenic, rolling natural topography provides an idea place for riding, mountain bike riding, and hiking.

The City maintains 23.5 miles of the trail system. The City’s trails connect to seven miles of County of Los Angeles trails for a total of 30.5 miles.

Along the equestrian/hiking trails there are three rest areas available. The rest areas are located on Lemon Avenue north of Amar Road; on Nogales Street, south of Francesca Avenue; and on Lemon Avenue, just north of La Puente Road. All three rest areas have picnic tables, trash cans, and trees to provide shade.

Adopt a Trail Program

Service and community organizations interested in helping maintain Walnut’s trails may adopt a trail. By adopting a section of the City’s equestrian and hiking trails, organizations help to preserve the City’s natural beauty. Organizations that adopt a trail volunteer to clean up trash and debris along a section of the trail. Adopting a trail is a great service project for youth and church groups. Help Keep Our Trails Clean

The City of Walnut would like to remind visitors to pick up after their dogs when using our public trails.

Per the Los Angeles County Code of Ordinances:

"A person who owns or has custody of a dog (except a visually-impaired person with a guide dog) is required to remove the dog's feces immediately from public property or private property not owned or possessed by the owner or custodian of the dog. The dog's feces must be disposed of in a sanitary manner. A violation of this section is an infraction punishable by a fine of up to $100."
