Overview

The Building and Safety Division is responsible for the protection of public health and safety through the administration and enforcement of the California Building Code and related federal, state and City adopted laws and ordinances. This responsibility includes meeting state mandates to assure all structures meet or exceed the minimum life safety standards of the codes, laws and ordinances. The Building Division assures that these standards are achieved by providing organized procedures and processes for reviewing and approving plans and specifications, issuing permits, and making field inspections.

Whether you are planning to build or modify your home or business, or purchase or sell property, you will need to work with the Building Division before you proceed.
