All aquatics programing takes place at the Walnut High School pool located at 400 N. Pierre Road. 

  • Summer 2026 Registration:
    • The Aquatics program opens June 8, 2026 and closes July 31, 2026.
      • Session 1: June 8 - June 18 (No class on 6/19)
      • Session 2: June 22 - July 03
      • Session 3: July 07 - July 17
      • Session 4: July 20 - July 31
      • Registration for Summer classes begins May 4, 2026 for Walnut Residents; May 11, 2026 for all others. 
    • Available online through Xplor Recreation. 
    • Also available in person at the Walnut Gymnasium/Teen Center or the Walnut Senior Center.

Important Aquatics Policies – Please Read Carefully

  • Class Cancellations: 
    • The City of Walnut Community Services reserves the right to cancel any class that falls below the minimum required enrollment. 
  • Pool Closures: 
    • Occasional closures may occur due to unexpected accidents, inclement weather, or maintenance by Walnut High School. 
    • Participants will be immediately informed of any closures. 
    • No make-up classes or proration of fees will be provided for missed classes due to these closures. 
  • Smog Policy: 
    • Community Services adheres to South Coast Air Quality Management guidelines, discontinuing strenuous activities during a 1st stage smog alert. 
  • Refund/Transfer Policy: 
    • A $10 service charge applies for all refund and transfer requests. 
    • Refunds will only be considered seven business days in advance of the first class meeting. 
    • No refunds will be granted after that time unless initiated by the department. 
    • Transfers will be allowed if there is space available in the desired class.   

Swim Class Descriptions

  • Tiny Tots (2 to 4 years old): 
    Water orientation for young children, teaching comfort in the water, breath control, floating, and kicking. Classes are held on the shallow steps of the pool. 
  • 1 – Guppies (5 to 7 years old): 
    Introduction to basic swimming skills, helping children become comfortable and safe in the water. Classes are held in the shallow area of the pool. 
  • 2 – Eels: 
    Fundamentals of aquatic skills, building and expanding on safety techniques. Classes are held in the shallow area of the pool. 
  • 3 – Minnows: 
    Stroke readiness and skill development, building on techniques learned in Eels. Classes are held in the deep end of the pool. 
  • 4 – Dolphins: 
    Confidence building, stroke coordination, and refinement. Classes are held in the deep end of the pool.

Walnut Sharks Swim Team

Summer 2026

The Walnut Sharks Swim Team is designed for children ages 6 to 17 who are interested in swimming competitively.

The primary goal of the Sharks Swim Team is to help children develop the necessary swimming skills for competitive events in a fun, supportive, and family-friendly environment. The team aims to ignite a passion for swimming and provide a foundation for future water-related interests.
